In his 21 years of illustrious cricket career Sachin Tendulkar has been best in the business. Highest run getter in both ODI and Tests, he has given many historic moments for his fans to celebrate and rejoice. And now there is more in the offering for them as the Government has included sports personalities in the nomination for the prestigious Bharat Ratna.

This means that Sachin Tendulkar has been declared eligible for getting the country’s highest honorary award. Government of India has tweaked its criteria of eligibility for Bharat Ratna. The speculations and hype that was surrounding on this issue has been made a reality by the government.

The people of the nation, especially the young generation in abundance was demanding Bharat Ratna be conferred to Sachin Tendulkar. Radio stations were abuzz from the moment Government announced recipients for Bharat Ratna, demanding the highest award for Sachin Tendulkar for his exceptional achievement in Cricket.

Letters were sent to the PM office requesting Bharat Ratna for Sachin and as a result he is now the frontrunner in the field of Sports. Hockey legend Dhyan Chand is the other contender for the award but people of India are going gaga over Sachin Tendulkar.

While former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin is of the view that Sachin Tendulkar should receive the award after Dhyan Chand, vice president of Mumbai Cricket Association has said that they will pass a resolution in support of Sachin Tendulkar.
