Sachin Breaks Highest ODI Batting Score By Scoring 200*
Sachin Tendulkar scored the first double hundred in an ODI to take India to a massive 401-3, along with brilliant innings by Dinesh Karthik, Captain MS Dhoni and Yusuf Pathan. South Africa managing just 248, thanks to an unbeaten century by AB DeVilliers.
Sachin shattered many records in his innings. Some of them are as follows:
- First to score 200 runs in a limited overs match
- Hittting 25 fours in an ODI innings
- Becomes the highest scorer in a limited overs match
Also, India became first team to score 400 runs in an ODI 3 times.
2961 matches were gone before this match and 200 not out in one day international is absolutely incredible, however was an untouched milestone till the Gwalior ODI. Sachin is the first cricketer to create history to get to the mark of 21st year of international cricket. He has shown it again, that time and age is not the criteria to judge players. This is the best season for Sachin in One Day Internationals. 21 years of cricket and Sachin have every injury but he came back from all of those injuries fitter and stronger both mentally and physically. When he reached 200, he did those things that he always did, he closed his eyes and raised his both arms.
This was not easy for Sachin as South Africa has very good records and they have tough fast bowlers to play with but our master blaster won over all the South African bowlers. Nothing is impossible with Sachin even at 37 the best performance is yet to come.
Other Cricketer said about Sachin:
Sanjay Manjrekar: 'No one deserved it more'
Shane Warne: 'Glad I'm not bowling to him'
Ian Chappell: 'He always had a smile on his face'
Master blaster says:
"Since I was timing the ball well, I could be more aggressive and put pressure on the bowlers" Tendulkar said he sensed an opportunity to break the record and reach a double-century when he had gone past 175 in the 42nd over. The record eventually came in the 46th over, and the 200 in the 50th. "When I was near 175-180, I thought I could get a 200 as there were quite a few overs left," he said. He added that he would prefer his achievement to be upstaged by an Indian. "I don't play for records, I play for enjoyment and play with lots of passion. That's how cricket started. I didn't start playing cricket to break all the records; it's happened along the way. The dream was to play for India and do my best." Presentation Video of Gwalior ODI :
